What are the difference food types?

Whole food

Fresh fruit, vegetable, protein, legumes and grains

There is no processing at all.

Processed food,

Whole food that has been altered by traditional methods

Butter, cheese, yoghurt etc

Food that has been preserved by tinning, salting, smoking, pickling, etc

Canned peaches = peaches and water

Butter = milk fat,

Olive oil = olive oil

Ultra processed food

Food that has been processed, generally comes in a packet, is generally branded, has limited to very little nutritional value and has a long shelf life. The ingredients list has a whole lot of names and numbers listed that you have trouble understanding.

There is a wonderful app available that will explain the health benefits, or not, of foods and how the additives react to our bodies. Most of these foods contain ingredients that are very addictive and have you wanting more. Yuka – Food and cosmetic scanner. Give it a go, I was rather shocked when I scanned the food in my pantry.

�Who would have thought, I knew they were bad but not that bad, and to think we often sit and eat a pack as a meal / snack supplement and then reason it away.
